A Little Dirt Never Hurt | Cool Kid | Tarrah McLean

Hi there Sassy Scrappers!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I have a new layout to share created using the Crate Paper 'Cool Kid' collection

The background paper I chose for this layout reminded me of dirt tracks and so it was perfect for this layout and photo of my eldest son playing in the dirt! There were some great embellishments included in this range for me to include on this layout!

I made good use of the 6 x 6 paper pad to create my title. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the title out but I used different coloured papers for different words making sure that there wouldn't be the same colours close together.

I loved creating this layout and thinking a little outside the box!

Make sure you check out the Sassy store where you can find all of the Cool Kid collection plus so much more too!

Happy creating!

Fly High Mixed Media Tag by Farrel Tailor

Hello and happy Thursday everyone!!!
Today I am sharing with you all my very first mixed media tag. I had so much fun creating this tag and can't wait to create some more!! There is a process video at the bottom of the blog if you would like to see how I created the tag.

To create the tag, I used the packaging from a 2 minute noodle box and covered it with Prima Rose Quartz - Grateful Heart pp.

Then using the dabbing technique I applied the following Distress Oxide Inks - Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Abandoned Coral and Wild Honey. (I stamped the inks onto my craft mat and spritzed with water before dabbing and dried in between colours)

Once I was happy with the colours for my background, I then used the font stamp from Darkroom Door Hummingbirds set. Using the same stamp set, I stamped the hummingbird and leafy branch onto some white cardstock and used Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Powder - Black Forest Black.

I then cut out the hummingbird and using a waterpen, I then applied Distress Oxide Inks Seedless Preserves and Salty Ocean to my hummingbird and applied some cheesecloth to the back.  I then inked around the edges of the tag using Distress Oxide Ink Black Soot

After adhering my stamped bird, I then stamped "Fly High" which is from the same stamp set and added some splattering using Dylusions White Linen Spray.

And there you have it..... a mixed media tag!!!  I hope I have inspired you to create something special.

Until next time - Happy Scrappin'
Farrel xx

Pinkfresh Studio | Escape The Ordinary | Agnus Kasprzak

Hi again :) I've got a layout share this week, using the fabulous 'Escape The Ordinary' collection from Pinkfresh Studio! I loved how this range worked in my project life album from my last post and couldn't wait to try it out on a 12x12 page too.

The gorgeous design of the 'Explore' cardstock was a great starting point for creating this layout of my little guy out and about on one of his adventures.

I repeated the printed triangle pattern of my base paper with more triangle shapes and used the page design as a guide for where to place them. I used papers from the 6x6" paper pad to mat the photo  and cut out the yellow triangle from a portion of the paper that sat behind my photo and even used the back of some of the packaging to add the 'Escape the
ordinary' saying.

I used a mix of die cut shapes from the ephemera pack along with one of the layered tags, puffy stickers, chipboard as well as one of the super cute stitched hearts to build up my layers and combined the gold foiled wooden alphas with the puffy alphas from a previous collection.

Little Explorer | Cool Kid | Tarrah McLean

Hi Sassy Scrappers!

It's Tarrah McLean joining you and today I am sharing another cool boy layout using the awesome Cool Kid collection by Crate Paper!

The Cool Kid collection is just so perfect for creating boy layouts! Whether it be an every day moment you are capturing or a major event, this collection has it all! This photo of my youngest son was taken by my older son when he was experimenting with my camera, we were waiting to go into the Tower of London this day and although the 'Little Explorer' title fits the story behind the photo, the photo itself doesn't show him shows him just being his adorable self!

Also Oliver is not 8 years old in this photo, he is 6 but I wanted to include the pop of yellow to the right hand side since I had yellow in two other places on my layout. I am all about balance when I create a layout...I like to work in 3's and create a visual triangle as well.

I included the transparent aeroplane ephemera to the right of my photo to help disguise some of the busyness that was going on in the photo....I quite often do this.....just by adding an embellishment, you can help the focus stay on the subject front and centre.

I added a couple of wood veneer pieces from my stash to this layout, I like to add different types of embellishments as I like to achieve different textures on my layouts!
You can find the Cool Kid collection plus so much more in the Sassy store right now, so make sure to check it out!

Thanks for stopping by the Sassy blog today!

Happy creating!

Tarrah x

Pocket Pages with Agnus | Pinkfresh Studio | Escape the Ordinary collection

Hi again :) I have been busy documenting some of our June memories with the awesome new 'Escape The Ordinary' collection from Pinkfresh Studio!

I was very excited about the release of this range - not only because it's gorgeous but also because the photos in my albums are often random and don't necessarily match each other, so I try to look for collections that will suit different themes and help to bring my photos together on a cohesive looking page and this range definitely helped to achieve this.

Another thing which drew me to this collection was the range of fantastic embellishments! Gold foiled die-cuts, bright puffy stickers and delicate stitched vellum hearts are just a few of my faves and because I like to create a custom title card for the start of each month and having a mix of textures definitely helps to give the card more interest. I often mix different ranges together and think that the puffy alphas from Pinkfresh Studio's earlier Indigo Hills range work really well with this range.

A cluster of cute embellies always works well on the negative space on a photo, and again I went with a mix of different textures to brighten up this pocket and loved the smaller font of the gorgeous foiled wooden alphas

Besides the awesome embellishments, this collection also includes a great mix of patterned papers and cut apart filler cards that help to tell your stories. I used simple chipboard shapes

The layered tags are fantastic for creating quick filler cards that look like you have spent ages layering and stitching but actually required no effort to create  ;)

I like the look of 4x6" photos cut in half and spread across two pockets and layering the journaling and embellishments over one side of the pic helps to lead the eye across the page.

More happy layers and simple filler cards help to bring these pages together. I coun'dt get enough of the puffy stickers and chipboard and also used my favourite date stamp throughout the pages.
