Ocean Goddess Art Journal Page by Farrel Tailor

Happy Thursday Sassy Fans!!! Today I am sharing an art journal page I created using Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Shakers and Dylusions Paints. I have a video at the end of the blog if you would like to see it in action.

When I started my page, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but after using the magical shakers for my background I decided to do an under water theme..... I'm not much of an artist when it comes to drawing and this was my first time drawing a mermaid (will definitely need to to practice some more lol) she isn't perfect but I wanted to show some different techniques when using the shakers.

So to build the background I used Polka Purple, Guten Tag Teal, Lederhosen Laurel and Bavarian Blue. I sprinkled randomly onto my page and spritz with water. I did use a heat gun to dry but if you have the time, let it air dry as the results are amazing.

I then drew my mermaid onto some watercolour paper and used the above magical shakers plus Bratwust Brown and Oom Pah Pah Pink to colour in my mermaid and adhered her to my page.

I then decided that I wanted to do a bit more to the background so using a wet paint brush I played a little more with the shakers until I was happy.

Next I used Dylusions Paint Dirty Martini and Fresh Lime to paint some seaweed and used a paint pen to draw some weeds. Then I mixed a small amount of water to White Linen to splatter onto the background.

To finish off the page I added some sparkle using a glitter glue - you can use Ranger Diamond Stickles and just like that my page was finished.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope I have inspired you to create something special!!!

Happy Mail Inspiration with Kylie.

Hello again friends! I hope you have all had an amazing week. Today I'm sharing another project using the 'Carousel' collection by Maggie Holmes.Don't forget to check it out in store HERE-

I'm sharing some Happy Mail today. The art of sending gorgeous goodies in the mail is still alive and well and although I don't send snailmail regularly anymore I created a special pocket styled piece to send off as a surprise to someone this week.Let's take a look-

This 'postcard' style pocket features two slots for including photos, your letter, gift tags, anything you fancy sending.

Since it is a friends birthday soon the chipboard stickers were perfect for adding to some paper straws for fun.

The front pocket sets the theme of my mail and I love the gold glitter included in this ranges ephemera pieces!

I've combined lots of the stickers layered for the top two pockets. All that needs to be added is my letter and some photos for sending.

Nothing beats receiving some pretty birthday themed mail! I hope you have enjoyed my project this week. This will be my very last for a little while as I step back for a short period.I have thoroughly enjoyed representing the Sassyscrapper Design Team for the past two years!
Many thanks to Olga for her friendship and for bringing Australia the latest brands for us to enjoy!

Not goodbye, just see you later!
Hugs, Kylie xo

Spiderman Dude | Cool Kid | Tarrah McLean

Hi Sassy Scrappers!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you today sharing a new layout created with the Cool Kid collection by Crate Paper!

This collection is perfect to document kids dress up parties or kids who just like to dress up! This is mostly a boy collection but you could also use it for girls too! Perfect if you have little Tomboy girls! This photo is of my youngest son who had his face painted at a birthday party a few years ago, to match his Spiderman outfit! We thought the face painting was amazing!

I used lots of the pieces from the Cool Kid collection that reflected the Superhero theme. The number 4 is there because that is the age he is in the photo...I usually like to have a meaning for something to be included on a layout so in this case, everything has the Superhero theme...the B is there just because B for Boy!

I really like the mix of clear and cardstock ephemera pieces in this collection, the mix makes it easy to embellish a layout!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Sassy blog today!
Check out the Sassy store for this collection plus loads more for all your crafting needs!

Happy creating!

Pink Paislee Summer Lights | Hello Weekend | Guest DT Gwen Wruck

Hi Creative Friends,

It's Gwen back on the blog today with another share as this months Guest Designer.  This month I'm creating with the latest collection from Pink Paislee - Summer Lights and today I'm sharing my third page.  If you missed the first or second one, you can check them out here.

For this page, I really wanted to pull out the stunning turquoise and yellow in this collection, I was really inspired by the No 10 pattern paper which I have used as my background.

I had this sweet action shot of Miss 10 and my hubby at the beach and went about creating a little beach scene starting with a sun shape which I have cut using my Silhouette and a piece of 6x6 paper from the paper pad.

For the bottom part of the page, I wanted to create some waves, I didn't really having any cut files that would work, but then had an idea to use a border punch. There are a few in store here, and many would give you a similar effect.  I simply punched out a stack and trimmed them very thinly and layered on my page and then stitched down.  I chose different shades of the turquoise paper to simulate the waves.

Once I had the Sun and the waves in position, it was time to add my photo. I've mounted it with a scrap from my previous pages and a bright yellow sheet from the 6x6 paper pad.

It was then time to add my title, I went with a chipboard piece that says "The ocean is calling" and two more thicker stickers "Hello Weekend".  The Thicker pack is full of text that you could use as a simple and quick title to a page and they are really great value.  The page was now really coming together and just needed some finishing touches.  I chose a cute little camera, some glasses and star fish as well as some foil elements which are so fun!  I also added some clouds to the top of the page which have been fussy cut from one of the papers in the 6x6 paper pad.  I really love how this has come together.

Thanks for checking out the blog today, I've had an absolute blast creating these pages for you as part of the Guest DT and I hope you will check out the collection in store and get creating with your Summer filled photos.

You can find the entire range in the Sassy Scrappers store here.

'Oh Happy Day' ~ A layout by Kylie

Hello, it's Kylie back this week with another project using 'Carousel' by Maggie Holmes. I have created another layout this week, featuring lots of the puffy stickers. There are a lot of great word stickers on these sheets which really add to your projects.
Here is a look at my completed layout-

I really liked this background paper 'Prize' with its trio of triangles and colour ways.

I've layered some elements into the top left corner of my page, and added a small banner flag I created using a simple punch from my stash. Here you can see one of the puffy stickers I have used, 'Fun'.

We NEED to take a moment to talk about the bow vellum from this collection.Isn't it gorgeous?? Plus, I feel silly to say but I didn't realise those cute bows are actually velvet until I got it out of the plastic packet. It has such a lovely feel to it!

Here you can see how I have included the vellum in behind my photo cluster.I have also used a strip of the perforated ticket, specialty paper too as well as more of the puffy word stickers.

This chipboard camera was a favourite to use as well! So many lovely elements in this range.

I hope you have enjoyed my layout this week. All supplies used are listed below and you will find them in store HERE.

Until next time,
Kylie xo
